Samsung, being named as the official partner of Team Golf League (TGL, which will be held in next January), provided a complete LED solution for the golf league events. Together with Tiger Woods, Samsung will use LED screens to create an immersive golf court with LED virtual scenes at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach, Florida.
TGL is short for Team Golf League, a golf league planned and created by TMRW Sports, a company founded by NBC Golf President Mike McCarley and the worldwide famous professional golfers Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
TGL will host a series of golf matches at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach, Florida in January. At that time, a total of 24 PGA Tour golfers from 6 teams will compete on a virtual course created by the LED screen display system.
David Phelps, head of the display department of Samsung Electronics America, said that TGL is redefining golf, combining high-energy entertainment with state-of-the-art technology to bring fans closer to the game – from screen to green. Samsung Display plays a key role in enhancing the excitement of sports spectators, turning each TGL game into a dynamic spectacle comparable to other arena-style team sports events. Together, we help create a new golf viewing experience to attract long-term fans while inspiring a new generation of fans.
Jason Langwell, Chief Revenue Officer of SoFi, which presents TGL, also said, “adding Samsung, a global leader in electronics and design, to our growing list of partners underscores our commitment to excellence as we continue to build the business case for TGL presented by SoFi. Samsung’s expertise and high-quality LED display solutions will be extremely valuable and will be an integral part of the TGL experience within SoFi Center and for fans watching at home around the world.”
According to report, Samsung provided a total of four different LED display solutions for the SoFi Center hosting the TGL event, using diverse visual content to create an engaging LED virtual golf event.
A nearly 600-square-foot outdoor LED screen was installed above the entrance of the SoFi Center to welcome visiting fans. The screen is built with Samsung XRB series P3.9 outdoor LED panels with a brightness of up to 5,000 nits.
On both sides of the large projection screen for the TGL competition, there will be two nearly 1,250 square feet of LED video boards for real-time display of game scores, shot statistics and hole overviews, etc. It is reported that the LED video board is made of Samsung VMR series indoor LED display panels, with a pixel pitch of 2.9 mm and can provide 1,000 nits of brightness.
In addition, the court and upper levels of the TGL event will be surrounded by a nearly 900-foot-long LED ribbon screen to enhance the visual experience of the TGL event and broadcast some sponsorship content. The ribbon LED screen is made of Samsung ISC series indoor LED flat panels with a pixel pitch of 3.9 mm and a brightness of 2,000 nits.
In addition, TGL will also make full use of the substitute bench in the stadium, that is, using an LED screen display system built with Samsung VMR series indoor LED panels (brightness 1,000 nits, pixel pitch 2.6 mm) to display the team’s brand information through each team’s substitute bench, further enhancing the visual experience in the venue.
