With a total display area of 944 square metres, Africa’s largest LED billboard has been installed along South Africa’s N1 highway, one of the country’s most important traffic corridors. The landmark DOOH project is powered by Ledman’s N-Series outdoor LED displays, delivering ultra-high brightness, long-distance visibility, and stable performance under intense sunlight and variable outdoor conditions.

The massive digital billboard sets a new scale benchmark for outdoor advertising across Africa. Positioned on the busy N1 highway, the installation is designed to capture attention from long viewing distances while maintaining image clarity throughout the day.
The project was delivered by Viron Group, in collaboration with NAD Properties and RL Media, with the goal of creating a premium digital advertising asset that functions as both a commercial platform and a visual landmark.
To meet the demands of Africa’s largest LED billboard, the project adopted Ledman N-Series N10 outdoor LED panels, featuring a 10mm pixel pitch. This configuration ensures clear image reproduction for high-speed traffic environments, while maintaining uniform brightness across the entire display surface.
A core factor behind the display’s performance is Ledman’s Optical Direct Assembly (ODA) chip packaging technology. By improving optical efficiency and colour consistency, ODA helps deliver stable visuals even across ultra-large display areas.

The N10 panels provide a peak brightness of 11,000 nits, ensuring excellent visibility even under direct sunlight. This level of brightness allows advertising content to remain vivid and legible throughout the day.
In addition, the display operates at a 7,680Hz refresh rate, enabling flicker-free viewing and reliable camera performance. This eliminates scan lines during video or photo capture, an important requirement for modern DOOH campaigns that extend to social and digital media.
Beyond visual performance, Africa’s largest LED billboard was engineered for long-term outdoor operation. The display features a robust, weather-resistant design that supports stable performance while reducing maintenance needs over time.
High luminous efficacy further supports efficient operation. The system delivers high-impact visuals while optimising power consumption, helping advertisers and operators balance performance with sustainability goals.
