Aura Vision Expands MicroLED Lineup with New MiP display

Optronics Industry | 2026-09-29

Aura Vision has expanded its fine-pitch MicroLED portfolio with the launch of COMET-M, a new display based on Micro LED in Package (MiP) technology. Available in 0.7 mm and 0.9 mm pixel pitches, the new MiP display targets broadcast studios, control rooms, and other professional environments.

The launch adds a new technology platform to Aura Vision’s existing Flip-Chip COB range. Rather than replacing its established COB products, COMET-M gives the company another approach to developing fine-pitch MicroLED displays.

COMET-M Adds MiP display to Aura Vision’s MicroLED Portfolio

COMET-M introduces MiP technology to Aura Vision’s fine-pitch MicroLED lineup. The technology packages individual MicroLED chips before they are assembled onto the display module.

According to Aura Vision, MiP offers potential advantages in color consistency and contrast. It also provides a development path toward increasingly fine pixel pitches.

Ricardo Teixeira, Technical Manager at Aura Vision, said the company does not believe a single technology will suit every application. Aura Vision will continue investing in Flip-Chip COB while developing MiP alongside it.

This approach allows the company to explore different packaging technologies and apply them according to the requirements of each display application.

Designed for Broadcast and Control Room Applications

COMET-M is designed for environments where viewers sit close to the screen and consistent image performance across the display is essential.

Broadcast studios and control rooms are key target applications. Corporate environments and other professional installations are also within its intended scope.

At pixel pitches of 0.7 mm and 0.9 mm, the new MiP display combines fine image detail with a range of image performance features.

Key specifications include:

SpecificationCOMET-M
Pixel pitch0.7 mm / 0.9 mm
Brightness800 nits
Brightness uniformity≥98%
Color gamut100% DCI-P3
Grayscale processing22-bit
HDRNative 10-bit HDR
Refresh rate7,840 Hz
Frame frequency120 Hz
Viewing angle170° horizontal and vertical

Aura Vision highlights color reproduction, contrast, and image consistency as important considerations for close-viewing applications. These factors become increasingly relevant as pixel pitches decrease and viewing distances shorten.

The company identifies MiP as one approach to addressing these requirements. Actual display performance also depends on the complete system, including processing, calibration, and display design.

Power Efficiency and Installation Features

Power efficiency is another focus of COMET-M. At a brightness of 800 nits, the display has a maximum power consumption of 250 W/m² or less, with average consumption of 85 W/m² or less.

The new MiP display uses the same 609.6 × 342.9 mm cabinet platform as Aura Vision’s COMET-C PRO range, which is based on Flip-Chip COB technology.

This shared cabinet platform allows COMET-M to sit alongside the existing COB range within the company’s product portfolio.

For installation and maintenance, COMET-M provides full front access, allowing servicing without access to the rear of the display. Dual power and signal redundancy options are available for applications where continuous operation is important.

The front of the display carries an IP65 rating, providing protection to the LED surface.

From ISE and IBC to Official Launch

Aura Vision first presented an early beta version of COMET-M at ISE 2026 in Barcelona.

The final version was previewed at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, where the display was demonstrated in broadcast control room environments at the IHSE and Black Box stands.

The demonstrations gave broadcast and control room professionals an opportunity to view the product and provide feedback ahead of its official launch.

COMET-M is now available in 0.7 mm and 0.9 mm pixel pitches, expanding Aura Vision’s fine-pitch MicroLED portfolio with a MiP-based platform for professional display applications.
