According to the research data from Futuresource Consulting, the global sales of LED screen had increased by 6% in 2023, with annual sales reaching US$9 billion. While the Asia-Pacific region has the lowest growth rate, Americas became the region with the fastest growth rate in LED display sales. Let’s proceed to the details.
The Asia-Pacific region has always been the main market for LED screens, accounting for nearly two-thirds of global sales.
But according to Futuresource, in 2023, the sales growth rate of LED screens in the Asia-Pacific region is the slowest in the world.
The LED screen market in Europe, the Middle East and Africa has increased faster; and Futuresource also predicts that the region will maintain rapid growth in the next few years.
At the same time, the Americas became a dark horse in the global LED screen market in 2023, and we saw the fastest sales growth in the region.
Furthermore, according to existing data, the Americas will also be expected to become the region with the fastest sales growth in LED screens in 2024, and will maintain a sustained and rapid growth in the next few years, further weakening the Asia-Pacific region’s share in the global LED screen market.
The survey results also show that in addition to monochrome and three-color, LED video walls dominated the market and had the largest market share in 2023.
Ted Romanowitz, chief analyst at Futuresource, said that in 2023, the sales of mini and micro pixel pitch LED screens continued to grow, with an increase of more than one-third, accounting for more than 5% of the global LED market.
The sales of mini and micro pixel pitch LED screens are expected to exceed $1 billion in 2025, and the growth will be doubled in between 2025 and 2028.
Analysis believes that the growth in sales of mini and micro pitch LED screens is due to the improvement and mass production of on-board flip-chip LEDs, and the subsequent realization of truly micro pixel pitch LEDs.
At the same time, the establishment of integrated micro-devices, chip-on-board and chip-on-glass technologies allows for smaller pixel pitches and closer viewing experiences, and expands the market share of direct-view LED screens.
Futuresource also predicts an optimistic LED market in the next few years, especially in 3 sectors below.
First, more and more entertainment venues and sports stadiums are looking forward to utilize LEDs to provide audiences and fans with more immersive experience.
Second, another growth point for LED screen sales will be seen in the field of enterprise and education applications.
Third, the application of LED screens in control rooms is also expected to have a relatively obvious growth.
It is worth mentioning that the sales of LED screens used in control rooms increased by nearly 10% in 2023. This may be related to the recent frequent regional conflicts.
Futuresource analyst Romanowitz said, “Overall, the entire LED display market will continue to develop and is expected to exceed US$20 billion in 2028, and LED video walls will still dominate the LED screen market.”
