MGM Macau has redefined immersive entertainment with the debut of its new LED Fantasy Box — a 270° LED-wrapped event space that merges art, technology, and flexibility. Designed to support Macau’s evolving arts scene, this 1,400-square-metre venue blends cultural storytelling with cutting-edge audiovisual innovation.
At the heart of the MGM Macau LED Fantasy Box is a 7-meter-high LED canvas that wraps across three sides of the room. This seamless digital surface transforms the environment instantly, adapting to events ranging from art exhibitions and weddings to brand activations and concerts.
Powered by seven Disguise GX 3 servers and ten RX III nodes, the system gives MGM’s in-house team total control over visuals, lighting, and atmosphere. The LED content can be changed or adjusted live — no need for re-rendering or complex programming.
The creation of the MGM Macau LED Fantasy Box was a joint effort between MGM, Disguise, and system integrator Smart Monkeys. Together, they envisioned a space that could shift seamlessly between artistic and commercial use.
Disguise’s creative team not only developed the content but also served as consultants. They defined the visual identity and functionality of the venue, ensuring that every detail supported both performance and artistic goals.
The final result was a suite of 10 adaptable LED looks, designed in Unreal Engine and Notch. From futuristic cityscapes and audio-reactive nightclub scenes to elegant corporate backdrops, each visual world can be customized to fit the event’s tone.
Unlike traditional venues that rely on fixed video playback, MGM’s system was built for flexibility. Each LED scene functions as a modular toolkit, allowing staff to modify colors, animation speed, lighting, and branding elements in real time.
This setup gives the team the freedom to repurpose the same visual assets for multiple functions — from a high-end wedding to a dynamic conference or immersive art exhibition. The system’s adaptability keeps the content fresh while saving time and creative resources.
Smart Monkeys also implemented an intuitive show-control interface, making it easy for MGM’s staff to trigger looks or transitions with a single click, ensuring smooth and reliable operation.
Since opening, the MGM Macau LED Fantasy Box has already hosted major cultural events, including The Civilization of Ancient Shu and cAI Lab 2.0 during the 4th Art Macao festival. These immersive exhibitions demonstrate how the space bridges Chinese and global cultural experiences through LED innovation.
As MGM continues to explore the intersection of art and technology, the Fantasy Box stands as a new symbol of Macau’s creative future — a venue that celebrates flexibility, digital storytelling, and the limitless potential of immersive LED design.
