An 860-square-meter transparent LED display has been installed at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The project creates the largest exterior transparent LED display at an NBA arena.
The new screen covers the venue’s entire plaza entrance. It combines a large digital display with the transparency of the building’s glass façade.
The display measures about 69 meters wide and 12.5 meters high. Its total display area reaches approximately 860 square meters.
The transparent LED structure sits behind the glass panels at the entrance. This design allows natural light to enter the pavilion. It also keeps views toward downtown Phoenix open when the display is not in use.
Absen supplied the transparent LED technology for the project. OneRevel handled the system design, engineering, integration and installation.
The largest exterior transparent LED display contains more than 17 million pixels. It operates at a 60Hz refresh rate.
The installation includes a central display and two side sections. These areas can operate separately when needed.
The three sections can also work together as one large visual surface. This setup gives the venue more options for displaying content across the entrance.
The new LED display is part of the outdoor experience at the Mortgage Matchup Center.
Fans can watch Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury content in the plaza during outdoor events. The display can also support watch parties and other game-day activities.
The screen will also be used during concerts and special events at the venue. Its large format allows content to extend across the full entrance area.
The project follows an earlier announcement from the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury in August 2026.
At that time, the teams announced plans for a 226-foot-wide by 41-foot-tall transparent exterior display. They described it as the largest transparent exterior display on an NBA/WNBA arena.
The installation has now been completed at the Phoenix venue. The 860-square-meter screen gives the plaza a new digital feature without fully blocking the glass façade.
The project combines large-scale LED content with a transparent structure. It allows the arena entrance to remain visually connected with its surroundings.
