Samsung is reorganising its global display manufacturing footprint, relocating production of its flagship MicroLED display system, Samsung The Wall MicroLED Display, after deciding to shut down a long-standing TV factory in Slovakia. The move reflects broader adjustments within the global television market as manufacturers respond to slowing demand and intensifying competition.

Samsung Electronics has confirmed that it will close its visual display manufacturing facility in Galanta, located in the Trnava Region of Slovakia. For more than two decades, the plant played a significant role in Samsung’s European manufacturing strategy and at one time stood as the company’s largest television production site in the region.
The factory reportedly employed around 700 workers and produced both consumer televisions and specialised display products. Among the advanced technologies assembled there were Samsung’s modular MicroLED displays used in premium commercial installations.
However, with the global television sector experiencing slower growth and more intense pricing pressure, the company has decided to streamline its manufacturing operations and redistribute production responsibilities across its international facilities.
Before the closure decision, the Galanta plant also manufactured the company’s well-known modular MicroLED display platform, Samsung The Wall MicroLED Display. These displays are widely recognised in the professional AV market for their ultra-large format, modular architecture, and extremely high brightness.
Following the restructuring, Samsung will transfer the production of MicroLED and other advanced display technologies to facilities within its existing global manufacturing network. According to company representatives, several Samsung sites already possess the technical capabilities required to manufacture these next-generation displays.
This redistribution is intended to ensure supply continuity for customers while maintaining the quality and performance standards expected from Samsung’s flagship display solutions.

While manufacturing operations in Galanta are set to end, Samsung Electronics indicated that the decision only affects production activities. The company plans to continue broader commercial and business operations within Slovakia, maintaining its presence in the region.
Samsung also stated that it is working to manage the transition responsibly. Measures are expected to include compensation packages and employment support for workers affected by the closure of the facility.
The closure reflects wider structural changes taking place across the global display industry. Television manufacturers are increasingly adapting their production strategies as market demand stabilises after the pandemic-era sales surge and competition among brands intensifies.
At the same time, companies are investing more heavily in emerging display technologies such as MicroLED, which is widely viewed as a potential long-term successor to LCD and OLED in high-end applications.
By consolidating production of advanced displays within specialised facilities, Samsung appears to be positioning itself to optimise manufacturing efficiency while continuing development of premium technologies like Samsung The Wall MicroLED Display.
For the professional AV sector, the relocation of production is unlikely to disrupt product availability in the near term. Instead, it signals a strategic shift in how major manufacturers organise their global supply chains for advanced display technologies.
As MicroLED continues to gain attention for large-scale installations—including corporate environments, luxury retail, broadcast studios, and immersive venues—Samsung’s restructuring highlights how manufacturers are adjusting their production networks to support the next generation of display innovation.
