A groundbreaking monolithic LED VP studio has officially launched in Deqing, China — marking a major leap forward in the evolution of virtual production. Developed through a partnership between Absen and Hangzhou-based Versatile Media, the new stage spans 5,000 square meters and features a 270-degree curved LED screen with a staggering 600 million pixels — setting a new global benchmark in immersive display technology.
The world’s largest monolithic LED VP studio with 600m pixels debuts in China.
Housed in Versatile Media’s newly launched AI-powered Virtual Production Base, this massive stage spans a total area of 5,000 square meters. At its core lies a colossal 270-degree curved LED wall, 50 meters in diameter and 12 meters tall, covering approximately 1,700 square meters of display surface. This marks the highest pixel count ever recorded on a single LED display system, offering immersive visuals and hyper-realistic lighting environments ideal for high-end film and television production.
The project reflects close collaboration between Absen and Versatile Media, with both teams working from the earliest planning stages through to on-site installation and final calibration. Absen not only provided the advanced LED display technology but also delivered full-scale technical support to ensure exceptional performance and visual fidelity throughout the entire setup.
As a trailblazer in AI-driven content creation, Versatile Media is a certified production partner for Apple TV, and is pioneering the integration of virtual production with artificial intelligence. Their new base supports a broad range of applications beyond traditional filmmaking — including commercials, gaming cinematics, metaverse content, and VR experiences — redefining how creative stories are brought to life.
This milestone project is a testament to how cutting-edge display technology and innovative production workflows are converging to reshape the global entertainment industry. The ultra-high-resolution virtual stage not only enhances production efficiency and visual quality, but also establishes China as a frontrunner in next-generation film technology.
Absen’s partnership with Versatile Media demonstrates how Chinese display manufacturers are leading the charge in global innovation, providing robust infrastructure for international-standard productions and laying the foundation for the future of immersive media creation.
