AOTO Powers Chengdu Film City’s Flagship Virtual Production LED Volume

Chengdu Film City has unveiled a brand-new 5,000-square-meter virtual production (VP) complex for film, TV drama, commercial and digital content creation. The studio adopts a fully integrated VP workflow, integrating LED volume, motion capture, real-time rendering and camera tracking into one unified production system.

Core 820 sq.m AOTO LED Immersive Shooting Volume

The centrepiece of the facility is an 820-square-meter LED volume composed of 3,240 AOTO RM2.3S panels.

• A 60m × 12m curved LED wall
• A 100 sq.m movable LED ceiling Together they build a full 360° immersive shooting environment, supporting a 180° shooting angle with a maximum usable depth of 19.1 meters, fully compatible with in-camera VFX production.

The LED panel features high brightness, high refresh rate and excellent image uniformity. AOTO’s exclusive cooling system stabilises equipment temperature during long-hour shooting, sustaining consistent image output and reliable operation.

Supporting Hardware & Professional Signal Processing Equipment

The project is a marvellous combination of supporting hardware and professional signal processing equipment.

Automated Rotating Stage

A 1,100-square-meter automatic rotating stage is deployed inside the studio to drastically accelerate scene replacement efficiency.

LED Control & Data Transmission System

The technical stack is equipped with:

• 48 Brompton Tessera SX40 LED processors
• 96 Tessera XD data distribution units These devices guarantee accurate colour reproduction and synchronous signal transmission for the whole LED screen system.

Another Strategic Cooperation Project Between Tencent and AOTO

This Chengdu VP studio marks another landmark collaboration between Tencent and AOTO. Earlier, the two partners delivered the 3,000 sq.m Tencent CDD Virtual Studio in Shenzhen, which ranks among the most advanced virtual production bases in South China.
